As we first caught sight of your skyline by night we sat in excitement. The beauty of your buildings aglow with late night lighting stunned us and we eagerly awaited morning when we could explore your city.
Thank you for providing us with such rich history and stories that only build my appreciation for what you have survived. Your architecture fascinated me and the time periods seen stretched through the ages. The stone work mixed with post-modern design added dimensions to your buildings I had not seen before and I could hardly capture your design on camera.
Your water ways of the Chicago river and Lake Michigan were excellent to travel upon, and your tour guides do know their stuff. How impressive is your reversed water system and the landfill the majority of your city is built upon.
Your ganster history, though seeping with murder, hatred and selfishness, gave me new insight into the capabilities of man and how powerful some of the men of your city were. It was also comfortabing to take the gansta tour as Ben and my bottoms were a bit sore after our afternoon-long bikeride along your beaches and lake front. Dodging the runners, roller bladers, springing shoe man and others left us ready to relax and laugh along with ‘Numbas’ and ‘Johnny Rocco’ our tour guides…even though we ended up ‘dodging bullets’ instead of runners. 🙂
Thank you also for enlightening me on the fact that Mrs O’Leary and her cow have been exonerated. I was still blaming them completely for your devastating fire and am glad to hear they are not to blame for such tragedy.
Finally, thank you for filling our plates to their maximum leaving many left overs we could leave behind in the hands of your homeless. The poor will always be with us, but we were thankful to extend a hand when we could.
Your cheesecake and pizza left my waistline begging for mercy and your scenery with gorgeous fall colours left me speechless.
I will return, I promise. You are a city second in my heart only to my homeland of London.
Thank you for your clean hospitality and the incredible Thanksgiving weekend you provided.
