The Lord has been allowing a righteous anger in me to simmer. I am not comparing myself to Jesus but only to his display of pure righteous anger as he entered the temple to worship His Father. He was filled with a zeal for His Father and slowly sat, simmered and pondered as He braided a leather rope into a whip. From there we know the story, he turned over tables, yelled at the money changers and wheeled around His homemade whip with a justified aggression. It angered, burned him and deeply upset His heart. It really is a beautiful scene of someone so troubled by a justifiable cause that they take physical action to right the wrong.
Here is where my anger comes in. Christians…or maybe not, I cannot judge that, and the way they dress. I am sure some of my anger is carnal because we are human and there may be sin in my heart but I definitely know that there is purity in my anger for the hearts of the young girls and boys being subjected to the ignorant behaviour before them. Being on the road with BENBORI I have seen more cleavage at the church gatherings after the concert then during the outreach concerts themselves! It makes me sick. I cannot stand to look through facebook pictures of female Christian artists as I have seen belly shirts, cleavage and pants that could not be pulled tighter.
WHERE ARE YOUR MORALS LADIES!
(Not only do your lyrics hardly touch even Christ, that is another story BUT)…
All I am seeing is cleavage right next to a photo of you on stage surrounded by thousands of young girls looking up to you and young men now lusting after you.
I will not go as far to say you cannot look good. There is no harm in using clothing to bring glory to God, as a painter uses beautiful colours, but are you kidding me…bellies? Are you consciously trying to attract male attention or are you just utterly ignorant to the fact your shirt hangs midway down your chest? Freakin open your eyes and realize what a responsibility you have and how dishonourable you are being to the Lord!
I am mainly talking of women in the “Christian” industry as they are called to model correct behaviour and be at a place where pureness of heart is visible on the outside. If you are so concerned with your outward appearance that you cannot give glory to the Lord with your outfits then get out of the industry. Join Lady Gaga in her quest to free women of the sexual inhibitions because it doesn’t seem you are doing much to profit the Kingdom of the Lord. If you are a Christian women, in the industry or not, look in your wardrobe and more importantly into your heart.
What are you wearing?
Why are you wearing it?
Are you modelling your modesty after the world or after our Holy Lord?
